My love for baking and cooking started from the time my legs were just long enough to reach the ground. My beautiful Mother and Grandmother were my first source of inspiration. To this day I can still recall the delicious smells and tastes that permeated from their kitchens. From the time I can remember I loved bread, but could never find the exact taste I was looking for. My journey began when I was 13, finding odd jobs in the hospitality industry and when I finished school I served a three-year apprenticeship in South Africa and qualified as a chef, but I still wanted to become a baker, so I set my sight on overseas. I travelled to Europe where I later qualified as a Baker/Patisserie.
After doing extensive travelling and working all around the world, I returned to South Africa with the dream of making my own bread. I wanted a bread that was long-fermented, nutritious, preservative and chemical-free, had a good crust and, most importantly, was delicious. I will never forget the words of my former master when I asked him, “What bread should I make?”, “Make bread you love” he replied, “and people will love it like you do”. Today my bread is distributed throughout South Africa and enjoyed by all.
